This incident had the largest number of victims in Jerusalem for the past six years. In the course of an armed attack on a synagogue in West Jerusalem, at least five Israelis are dead. Police said it is considering the attack as “terrorist”, reports the BBC.
Two men armed with guns, axes and knives, broke into the church during prayer. Eight people were injured. Police said the attackers - Palestinians from East Jerusalem were shot. Israeli media reported a shootout between security forces and assailants. The attack took place on the territory of a religious seminary in Shimon Agassi Street.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said that the locus of the accident was cordoned off and wounded: six worshipers and two policemen were taken to the city hospital.
